While we had a decent turn out for the day trip, numbers were down this time around either due to school holidays, mechanical issues or sickness.

With 10 cars in the convoy, we set off through the beautiful Bellthorpe National Park. The track was quite rough this time around and brought back some not so pleasant memories of our June trip to Sundown.

After a few hours of driving, we arrived at Booloumba Creek around 1:30pm, just in time for the exodus of people leaving after lunch.

It was really great to catch up with everyone after a few months off over winter. We also had our AGM, which was relatively uneventful. We elected our new committee, comprising:

  • President – Jon Carmen
  • Vice President – Mike Gerlach
  • Treasurer – Matt Fossey
  • Secretary – Brooke Fossey
  • Trip Advisor – Chris Schoppe
  • Committee members:
    • Simon Hewitt
    • Trevor Manton

Huge thanks to outgoing committee members Richard Froehlich and Harry Butler for their contribution to the club over the years, organising trips and especially to Richard for representing the club at 4WD QLD.

Personally, I was just happy to make it out of Bellthorpe with Lola in one piece. We do not have the best luck on this track – the last time we did it a gum tree dropped a 18 foot branch through the front grill.
