I was really not looking forward to this trip. This was the same trip where we got Lola’s first scratch… in her first week of ownership!

This time, we had muds, sliders and a few more tricks to help us through so I was a little more confident, but we also had Simon take us on a nastier track – so I was still quite nervous.

After airing down at Sandy Creek, we took off. We split into two groups halfway through then met up again before stopping for morning tea at the old mill site.

We then headed up the hill, then back down the other side, past the point of Lola’s first blemish. Making this unscathed, we got to the bottom cattle yard and were quite pleased with ourselves. Here, I jumped out and got some footage of the cars traversing the ruts.

After everyone made it through, I jumped back in the car and we were on our way through very easy track to the bitumen then our final lunch spot, Booloumba Creek day use area in the Conondale Ranges. Not 15 metres down the track, a gum decided to drop a branch – straight through Lola’s bumper!

The remainder of the trip was uneventful and we were very grateful we were not half a second later. An 18 foot + stick going through the windscreen or roof would not be good.

I think Ryan Hewson’s video sums up the day nicely. Thanks for another great day!
